⚠️ Important: Frequency & Programming

Out of the box, the BF-T1 is a programmable UHF radio. To use it legally in the UK, you have two options:

  1. Licensed Use: Program it to your assigned business frequencies (requires Ofcom Business Light Licence).
  2. PMR446 Use: You can program the radio to PMR446 frequencies to communicate with standard licence-free radios.

Note: To change settings, you will need the specific BF-T1 Programming Cable (sold separately or in bundles), as it uses a different connector than the standard UV-5R.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the range of the BF-T1?

Despite its small size, the 1-Watt power output can achieve 1-3km in open areas. In buildings (like a hotel), it typically covers 3-5 floors effectively.

Is it compatible with the UV-5R?

Yes, but they must be programmed to the same frequency. Since the BF-T1 has no keypad for frequency entry, you must use a PC cable to set the channels to match your UV-5R.

Does it use a standard Kenwood earpiece?

No. The BF-T1 uses a unique single-pin 3.5mm connector. Standard 2-pin Baofeng earpieces will NOT fit. Please ensure you buy accessories specifically for the T1/9100 model.

How long does the battery last?

The 1500mAh Li-ion battery is very efficient. For typical 12-hour shifts in retail or hospitality, one charge is usually sufficient. It has a power-saving mode to extend standby time.
