Round 1 Frequently Asked Questions
Which models in Round 1 are license-free in the UK?
The BF-88ST PRO and BF-888S PMR446 (BF-88E) are 100% license-free. They operate on fixed PMR446 frequencies with 0.5W power output, making them completely legal for anyone to use in the UK and Europe without any Ofcom license or subscription fees.
What is the difference between the BF-888S and BF-888S PMR446 (BF-88E)?
While they share the same rugged, ultra-durable casing, the BF-888S PMR446 (BF-88E) is specifically factory-locked to PMR446 frequencies and 0.5W power output for license-free UK use. The standard BF-888S is a high-power UHF version suitable for custom business frequencies.
