nice little radios, can't find a better one for the price.
nice little radios, can't find a better one for the price. Use of the ID pin on mini USB for programming is a little annoying, trying to make you buy their programming cable rather than using a common one. Without programming while the radios do work, their preprogrammed frequencies are no good for UK. Audio quality is good for it's size, there's plenty of volume. not sure of the value of the light on it, it's not very bright, would feel better without it. Cant see many people really using this light. I like that when using with repeaters, the screen shows the transmit frequency while PTT is pressed. Range on the radio is very impressive. I'm able to hit a repeater which is over 20 miles away. Being able to store 20 Channels in the radio provides plenty of space, and easy to do with Chirp. It's a shame that it's not possible to change the CTCSS TX and RX codes on the radio, this can only be done via programming. There is a menu option for it, it just doesn't work. If you need a bunch or little radios for the family or event, and not afraid of programming, then these are the ones for you. Once programmed, users can't modify them so no danger of losing contact. Battery lasts a long time and is easily charged via included USB cable. (note the USB cable is power only, data lines are not connected). Headset is like any other and fits well and works just fine. Cable is a little shorter than ideal, only just reaching from hip pocket to ear for average sized man.
